If you pay attention to the title, you may have noticed that it reads the same from left to right as from right to left. This is called a palindrome (from the Greek παλίνδρομο, palíndromos, ‘that goes back and forth’).

The Festival ETSA·TOPIA 2018 opted for the circle as their symbol and it turns out that a palindrome is nothing more than a vicious circle. A vicious circle or diallelus (from the Greek διαλελο, diallelos, ‘reciprocal’) is a situation without exit, a fish that bites its own tail.

We present the architectural version of the vicious circle. What could be called a 3D palindrome; it’s the tridimensional version of a “capicúa” (a number which is palindrome, symmetrical and reversible). It is an accessible space that starts the same way it ends and, in this case, intercepted by an intermediate area that reinforces the idea of space without exit.

JARDINS DE LLUM MANRESA FEBRER 2017 LLUM I AIGUA TAV-CC

Cada any, el 20 de febrer, la gent de Manresa va a recollir l’aigua que s’escola per les esquerdes de la volta del carrer d’en Botí. Saben que no és una aigua com totes, és una aigua lluminosa. És un secret molt ben guardat i no ho expliquen a ningú, callen, es miren i cadascú omple la seva galleda i se l’emporta silenciosament cap a casa.

Fa tants i tants anys que es repeteix aquest ritual que la gent no es sorprèn del fenomen de l’aigua feta llum, però aquest any s’està produint un fet del tot inexplicable. Hi ha una galleda, que ningú sap qui
ha portat, que no s’omple mai. La gent s’hi acosta i no sap explicar ni d’on ve l’aigua i a on va perquè sembla que els fils d’aigua feta llum arribin fins l’infinit, al fons de la galleda.

La intenció de la proposta es concentrar l’atenció dels vianants en un espai concret del recorregut i posar de manifest un efecte a on es fonen aigua i llum en un únic element que crea una reflexió infinita.

L’aigua que recull el poal
Es torna llum resplendent
Quan la mires des de dalt.
