SATE_VEG

“System for the energy rehabilitation of obsolete facade enclosures, capable of mitigating the heat island effect in urban spaces. SATE_VEG”

This is a project born from the need to rethink architecture in the face of the climate emergency. The research focuses on energy rehabilitation, providing a new conception of the external thermal insulation system (SATE); seeking to respond to both the needs of indoor thermal comfort and providing environmental conditions on the exterior.

To achieve this, it proposes the incorporation of plants integrated into the exterior face of the system, prioritizing plant growth to provide the facade with highly positive characteristics such as the absorption of CO2 emissions and the thermal stability brought by living beings.

The SATE_VEG facade solution continues the research initiated with the 2021 Llavor 00003 project, led by Cristina Pardal, a member of the AIEM group.
