Architecture, Energy and Environment

Since 1980, and under the direction of Rafael Serra Florensa, a research team specialized in Architecture and energy was formed at the Barcelona School of Architecture. This team works on how energy affects architectural spaces and cities as elements of the environment. The proposed approach is from both an environmental comfort and aesthetic perspective, without ever forgetting the energetic aspect.

The group is composed of professors (architects, physicists, and engineers), postgraduates, and young researchers.

Given that the group’s research is divided into office and field work, we have computer equipment specifically oriented towards the field of architecture and energy (calculation, production, and simulation software), as well as measurement instruments (lighting, thermal, and acoustic) that are necessary for the development of the projects.
