9th International Workshop VeUvE

On May 8, 9, and 10, 2024, the 9th edition of the International Workshop on Mediterranean Urban Morphology took place in Rome. It was jointly organized by the AiEM research group – Architecture, Energy and Environment – of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB UPC) and the SOS Urban Lab research group of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome.

The objective was to analyze public spaces in vulnerable neighborhoods of the city of Rome. Using energy performance and thermal comfort evaluation tools such as: isochrone curve, car/no-car, ground floor use, solar analysis and vegetationComplemented by images taken by the students and presentations.

A group of final-year building engineering and architecture students participated together with Master’s and PhD students from both universities. In total, 9 groups were formed, each assigned a different square as a study site:
